billy newbio :: A singer-songwriter, amateur photographer, and cooking enthusiast, Billy New fits the definition of a genuine Lowcountry artist.

Born and bred in historic Charleston, South Carolina Billy began his musical studies at the tender age of 10 years old, when he received a guitar for Christmas. Before long, he was playing the classics — the Eagles, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton — and soon after, the great blues artists — Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, and John Lee Hooker. Just a few short years later, while a student at the historic College of Charleston, Billy studied literature and writing, and he developed his own unique sound, blending his favorite artists' genres with his own.

Billy contributed to many local acts, including the Legends and Legacies and Fuzzy Logic, before venturing out own his own. Today, he is a dedicated and compassionate musican who has been featured on ABC's Lowcountry Live! and has performed at many regional venues. At times, his audiences have included Mark Bryan of Hootie and the Blowfish, singer-songwriters Paul Allen and Carrol Brown, and more.

Constantly aware of the positive impact music and entertainment have on people of all backgrounds, Billy even contributes his talents to local charitable events. From Camp Happy Days to Anchors Away, he has provided a musical backdrop for many Lowcountry residents.

Billy New resides in Charleston with his wife and son.
